Discover life beyond survival

Anxiety Therapy | Nervous System Regulation | Somatic Therapy for Women in Orlando, FL

Your friends and loved ones just don’t seem to understand how much energy it takes to get through the day.

Everyday life feels challenging. Decisions feel overwhelming. Tasks like going to the grocery store or preparing a meal can feel like more than you can handle. You finally made it to the couch after another long day of work, life, and relationships.

You feel a familiar combination of exhaustion and fast thoughts.

 Can you relate?

  • Your brain feels foggy, you have trouble focusing or you experience racing thoughts

  • You feel short-tempered. It doesn’t take much for you to feel irritated with your family and friends…not to mention in traffic!

  • You feel a sense of dread, like something bad will happen, especially if you slow down.

  • You feel chest tightness, shallow breaths, and odd pressures and pains in your body that are not connected to a medical problem (we know that because you already asked your doctor and after a clear EKG they asked about the stress in your life).

  • You have trouble falling asleep. Your mind and heart race and your body feel panicky until you collapse in bed- only to wake up feeling tired like you were up all night.

  • At the end of the day, you find yourself numbing with food, mindless videos and/or wine.

You feel frustrated, tired, and irritated.

It’s like you have two operating modes: push-through and crash. You go through the motions crossing off the items on your to-do list until you can check out again. There seems to be no rest for the weary.  Sometimes you wonder if this is just your personality and your wiring.

Well-meaning people have suggested books, podcasts, and apps and bible verses. They have said unhelpful things like “Just let it go", “don’t worry” or my personal favorite (sigh) “Just give your anxiety to Jesus” …you and I both know it’s not that simple and you would not be here if that advice had worked.

You have tried: ignoring your racing thoughts, using distractions (exercise, work, and kids activities) to cope, and having just another pour of wine to take the edge off… You have lived in this state of being “on” for so long that your body doesn’t know another way.

Nothing is working consistently. You know this way of living is not sustainable.

Anxiety Therapy FAQs

  • Hey there! It's totally normal to wonder about what's going on with your mind and body. If you're trying to figure out if you're dealing with anxiety or something else, it's a good idea to pay attention to both your thoughts and your physical feelings.

Here are some things to notice:

    1) Think about your thoughts and emotions. Are you often feeling worried or on edge? Do you find yourself overthinking things, or is it hard to shake off feelings of fear? Anxiety often comes with a persistent sense of unease or fear about everyday situations.

    2) Now, check in with your body. Anxiety can manifest physically too. Do you notice symptoms like a racing heart, muscle tension, or difficulty sleeping? Sometimes, your body gives you clues about what's going on in your mind.

Consider the impact on your daily life. Are these feelings getting in the way of your work, relationships, or daily activities? If so, its time to reach out for support.

Remember that you don't have to figure it all out on your own. Reach out, let’s chat. I may be able to help and provide insights and support tailored to your situation.

  • Timeframes vary and will be discussed in detail with each client. Overall, most clients start off meeting weekly for 50 minutes sessions.

The weekly sessions often last about 6-8 sessions, then move to every other week, then monthly, and in overtime shift to as needed. Intensive 2 hours sessions or twice weekly session may be available.

  • Absolutely! Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR for short, has been found to be quite effective in treating anxiety. It's a therapeutic approach that was initially developed to help people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but it has shown positive results for various anxiety disorders as well.

In a nutshell, EMDR involves a structured eight-phase process where the therapist helps you process distressing memories by using bilateral stimulation, typically in the form of side-to-side eye movements. This seems to help your brain reprocess traumatic or anxiety-inducing memories, making them less distressing over time.

Many individuals have reported significant improvements in their anxiety symptoms after undergoing EMDR therapy. It's like giving your brain a chance to rewire and process difficult experiences in a healthier way.

Of course, it's essential to keep in mind that everyone is different, and what works for one person may not work the same way for another.

If you're considering EMDR or any other therapy for anxiety, reach out for your consultation.
